Congratulations on your new baby!

Thank you so much for allowing me the amazing and rewarding job of photographing your new little mini in his/her first few days of life. Newborns are my passion and I consider myself truly blessed to be around these little miracles so much.

Please contact me within 48 hours of baby’s birth.  Since babies often come on their own schedule, contacting me as soon as possible ensures that we have a bit of weekday flexibility while scheduling. My newborn sessions are typically scheduled when baby is between 7 to 18 days old.  During this time, the sleep more soundly and curl up more easily into adorable poses.  For babies that are born early/spend time in the NICU, I try to get them into the studio within the first week of being released home.

My sessions take place in my home studio and occur on a weekday.  I start my sessions around 9am as this is a time when most babies sleep more soundly and if we are capturing sibling shots, toddlers tend to cooperate best in the morning.

How to Dress Baby?

Please dress baby in easy to remove clothing- zippered sleepers are perfect as we can trasition baby to just their diaper (or naked for beanbag shots!) without having to bother baby with pulling clothes over his/her head.

Hungry?

A well fed baby is a happy baby!  Please feed and burp baby right before leaving for my studio to ensure a happy, sleepy baby.  Sessions last between 2-3 hours, sometimes longer if baby is a light sleeper, or is hungry! The easiest way to ensure a sleepy baby is the willingness to nurse/bottlefeed based on baby’s needs during the session.

Crank the Heat!

It will be at least 80 degrees in the studio. Due to this, I come dressed for a warm few hours and suggest you do too!  Please feel free to bring a change of clothes for after family/parent shots (and for any accidents that might occur while snuggling a naked baby!).

Don’t forget...

*A Pacifier! Even if you haven't used one, a pacifier can be a game changer during a session as it is a newborn’s natural instinct to want to suck to soothe themselves...especially with as many position changes we do during a short time period. If you don’t happen to have one, I keep unopened soothies here in the studio.

*Extra Pumped Milk or Formula if you are bottle feeding (modeling is hard work for tiny babies!).

*Extra Diapers/Wipes/Change of Clothes for both baby and parents.

For Siblings:

Including older brother/sister(s) in your newborn’s portraits is the perfect way to document this fleeting time in your lives.

Sister(s): I provide a wrap that will act as the perfect top, or please bring along a snug fitting tank in a neutral color. I ask that girls hair be natural (or in braids) and free of bows, headbands, etc. Just as with mom, no nail polish please.

Brother(s): A snug pair of jeans and shirtless are preferred, please take a few moments to chat with your guy about this so he feels prepared for  the session - though if he prefers not, a tight-fitting white t-shirt is fine.

For Mom & Dad:

Mom & Dad you are a big part of the show. Photographing the connection between you and your baby is one of my all time favorite things. Just as they encourage in the hospital, skin to skin contact creates the most beautiful images.

Dads: if you prefer not to be shirtless I ask that you bring a tight fitting v-neck or crew neck t-shirt to wear with a good, snug pair of jeans.

Moms: I love to keep the color neutral and design simple; tanktops, fitted tees, or even long sleeve tops with fitted sleeves work great! Be sure that you have no nail polish (or freshly painted neutral nails) as your hands will make their way into the images. Also, rest assured, I aim to photograph using flattering angles and light to bring out the natural beauty in your family.

Each session is completely customized to parent preferences based on the newborn questionnaire that is sent along with your contract when booking your baby's newborn studio session.  I look forward to planning each and every setup and take pride in creating a cohesive and unique newborn gallery that will be enjoyed by your family for years to come.

Most of all, I want you to relax and KNOW that your baby is in safe, capable hands!
